Hypnosis – does it really work?It never fails to surprise how many people upon learning that I am a hypnotist ask, does it really work? I think to myself, do I look like and sound and behave like a con artist? Do people question the credibility of a carpenter, or a teacher? Would I base my livelihood and credibility on something that didn’t work? Obviously hypnosis is not a silver bullet panacea quick fix for all things, otherwise we’d all be carefree and perfect in every way. Hypnosis is however, the only solution for some. I’ve seen it in my practice. Consider this true fact. Often when all else has failed, a person resorts to hypnosis as a last resort. And guess what? Hypnosis is the only thing that works. True.Think about this for a moment. Most people look outside themselves for what will make them happy or “fix them” in some way. Most hope that new cosmetic, higher heels, larger breasts, someone to complete them, or perhaps a pharmaceutical pill will change the way they perceive themselves or change their lives for the better. Hypnosis allows you to look within. Hypnosis builds your strength from the inside out. Hypnosis is based on the premise that the solutions are within and when given the chance the answers to what ails you will surface. Often what seemed insurmountable or what you’ve suffered and “learned to live with” can disappear. Hypnosis can give you the tools to make beneficial changes in your life. Hypnosis can provide lasting and permanent change.I’ve often received thanks and heartfelt gratitude from people who found little help from traditional methods. All I did was facilitate the state of hypnosis and offer well formed suggestions. And most of all I offer my unshakeable belief that they will succeed. I know that somehow in some healthy way each day they will feel better and better with the help of hypnosis. I know because I’ve witnessed it time and time again. Perhaps, next time someone rolls their eyes at the suggestion that hypnosis is a valuable therapeutic tool, or is ignorant enough to ask me “does it really work?” I’ll have a fabulous come back; a real zinger. For now I’ll continue doing what I’ve always done, offering a free session to spread the news that indeed hypnosis works. - Next time someone asks, "does it really work?" I'll have a fabulous come back; a real zinger.
- November is Diabetes Awareness Month Friday, November 20th, 2009
November is Diabetes awareness month. You are probably aware that obesity is directly linked with Type II Diabetes. However you probably are not aware of the link between obesity, diabetes and dementia.
Dr. Margaret Gatz, a professor of psychology, preventative medicine and gerontology (the branch of science that deals with aging and the problems of aged persons) of the University of Southern California has demonstrated a connection between diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease. Her findings appear in the January 2009 issue of Journal Diabetes.
By studying twins (the scientific value of which is the fact that they are genetically similar) Dr. Gatz set out to determine what factors caused one of the pair to experience Alzheimer’s disease or vascular dementia while the other did not.
Her findings show that if a person has the onset of diabetes prior to the age of 65 the likelihood that they will develop dementia is increased by 125%.
While not everyone with Type II Diabetes is overweight, obesity and lack of physical activity are two of the most common causes of this form of diabetes. Obesity and lack of physical activity – how preventable is that? Very.
The frightening reality is that more than half of all middle-aged Canadians fit the profile that leads directly to Alzheimer's disease.
Thanks to junk food, soft drinks, fried food and obsessive television watching among the middle-aged, we are in the process of producing a nation of fat, diabetic and demented citizens!
Hypnosis can help you begin to adopt a new healthier lifestyle. If you have struggled with making healthy choices in the past, hypnosis may be the answer for you.
